Trip to the Czech Republic.
During the EHOWT (European Hell
On wheels Tour) George Best and I ran into some interesting Czech engines.
It ended up in buying 3 engines. Problem was that we couldn't bring them home
right away since we had no trailer, and getting engines out of the Czech
republic requires LOTS of documents!!
So a "special" trip
was made by my father and me to the Czech republic to bring the engine's home.
It was a 2200 km ( 1375 miles) round trip.
We started at about 3.30 AM on August 17th 2002. We were at 4 PM in the Czech republic at the place were we had to load the engine's. This is a picture of the Wichterle-Kovarik, when I saw it for the first time.
Oh we had 3 engines to haul home; knowing: a 4HP
Wichterle-Kovarik (1750 lbs) a 3-4HP Benz (750 lbs) and a 3HP? Little (400 lbs)
plus some other parts we bought .
We had both the Wichterle-Kovarik and the Benz on the trailer, and the Little
plus the parts in the Van.
This is a picture of the Benz. It is in very nice original
condition
.
This is the Little we picked up. It is George Best from
Oregon's engine. These Czech built engine's are very rare.
It looks very much like some kind of copy from a IHC Tom Thumb.
To get engine's out of the Czech republic, you need allot
of documents. Each engine comes with 3 of these documents.
One for the guy who sold the engine, one copy for the customs on the
German/Czech border, and one copy for us.
This is the document for the Little.
