Calliope: This 90 year old “Tangley” circus calliope was found it at a farm auction eight years ago, and totally restored to good working condition. It is not a professional restoration. It retains the original brass whistles, metal cabinet, and ivory keyboard. The interior mechanisms were replaced in 2005 via the Tangley factory. Replacements include; electric music roll mechanism, new hoses, 43 air bellows and compact electric air blower. The original air/chain driven roll mechanism, and cast iron blower are also included in the sale. The Tangley Co is still in business for parts, music rolls, and free technical advice. This unit is mounted on a custom built tandem axle trailer and is easily towed by a quad, tractor or car. The trailer has lights, is state registered, and can be towed on the street. There is bench seating for 2 people at the front and rear of the trailer. Calliope can be played by keyboard, or by using “A” rolls sold by the Miner Co.(Tangley Co). Twelve rolls are included in sale. Roll

s include Christmas songs, 4th of July themes and general festive music. Each roll generally contains 10 songs lasting about 25 minutes depending on the speed. There are several “double rolls”. Roll/music speed is adjustable. This calliope was a crowd favorite at all regional parades. It was normally pulled by a quad and powered by a small Honda generator (not included in sale). U-Tube has a video of the calliope in the Phoenix Festival Bowl Parade. A second U-Tube video is under circus calliope. The 43 brass pipes are original and a few have minor dents/bends. If money wasn’t an issue, we would have had them professionally straightened and polished by a musical instrument repair facility. The pipes have the capacity of being tuned by moving a plug within the pipe. As the music sounded great, we never felt tuning was necessary. Calliope is operated by two simple switches, no need to play the keyboard. This is a buyer pick up only; Mike Jones nnn-nnn-nnnn or xxxx@xxxx.xxx (Prescott AZ)
