January 2005 - 15hp Westinghouse steam engine. Shown at the Great
Oregon Steamup each year. Orignally owned by the Sawyer brothers near Cave Junction Oregon where it was used as a threshing engine. The
brothers also had a 10hp Westinghouse which is currently at Collier’s State Park in Oregon. |

February 2005 - A row of John Deere tractors at the 2004 Lynden Washington show. |
March 2005 - 1917 Russell tractor. Apparently one of the cable networks this month aired a program on a tractor museum in Great Falls. The owner of the museum mentioned my name in connection with this tractor. After receiving comments from several people I decided to put this tractor on the cover this month. I restored this tractor and then later traded it to my friend Carl. This is one of several tractors I’ve parted with over the years and the one I probably regret the most. I still start it up and drive it around when I visit Carl. I need to plan a trip to Montana! |
April 2005 - A Case L tractor and a old GMC truck sitting in the tall grass and weeds in a back field I visited last summer in Washington state. |
May 2005 - 20-40 Case tractor which was on display at the 2005 Tulare show. This was a very nice running tractor, although it does a bit of a leaking radiator problem. |
June 2005 - A large size headless Witte engine shown at the 2005 California Antique Farm Equip show at Tulare in April. |
July 2005 - Don Nelson’s Gibson Super “D” was a rusty hulk sitting in desert setting in Nevada a year ago, a little elbow grease later and there it is. Will be showing for the first time at the Grass Valley show on June 4th. |
August 2005 - A model tractor with a Maytag motor. Shown at the Pottsville show 2005. The builder had added a sparkplug to the base of the radiator/exhaust and would occasionly fire that plug to burn out the combustible fumes which collected in the radiator. |
September 2005 - Belting up a Russell steam engine at the Great Oregon Steam Up during the 2005 show. Picture sent in by Glenn Christoffersen. |
October 2005 - On my recent trip to the Rollag show, we stopped in Colorado to pick up this 1905 3hp International vertical engine. This was the first year of production for this engine, which was not called a “Famous” until 1906. |
November 2005 - 20-40 Case shown at DJ Baisch’s show near Idaho Falls ID in August. This was a very nicely restored early model of 20-40. We
stopped at his show on our way to Rollag MN |
December 2005 - Another picture from my trip to Rollag this summer.
These Reid oil field engines were sitting next to a barn in Minnesota
at one of the places we stopped. |
